A stainless steel bipolar plate for a fuel cell is provided to realize excellent anti-corrosive property and contact resistance satisfying the standard defined by DOE even when a bipolar plate is exposed to a high-temperature/humidity condition for a long time. A stainless steel bipolar plate for a fuel cell is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a stainless steel plate(200) as a matrix; (b) reducing the iron(Fe) content of the surface layer of the stainless steel matrix to form a chrome(Cr)-rich passive film(210); and (c) forming a metal coating layer(220) on the surface of the surface-modified stainless steel matrix. In step (c), the metal is selected from the group consisting of Au, Pt, Ru, Ni, Cu and an alloy thereof. |
