<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a periphery-monitoring device for a vehicle capable of more appropriately monitoring an obstacle in the periphery of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This periphery-monitoring device is provided with a front monitoring means for monitoring an obstacle within a predetermined front region that extends to the front of own vehicle; a front-side monitoring means for monitoring the obstacle within a predetermined front side region that extends to the side of own vehicle, as compared with the predetermined front region; and a traveling environment detection means for detecting the traveling environment of own vehicle. When it is detected that own vehicle is traveling on a predetermined road, including a speedway by the traveling environment detection means, the monitoring by the front-side monitoring means is suppressed. When it is detected that own vehicle is traveling in the predetermined region, including the merging part on the predetermined road by the traveling environment detection means, the suppression level of the monitoring by the front-side monitoring means is relaxed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
