METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING POWER IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and a system for controlling power in a communication system are provided to optimize power and resources of a mobile station and accordingly to enhance performance of the communication system by increasing usage efficiency of the power and the resources and data transmission & receipt rate. A method for controlling power comprises the following several steps. A base station calculates a power control value necessary in case that a mobile station transmits an uplink signal in accordance with feedback information received from mobile stations, for example CQI(Channel Quality Information) between the base station and the mobile stations(301). The base station transmits the power control information including the calculated power control value to the mobile station(303). The base station receives a signal from the mobile station according to the transmission power matched with the power control information, and calculates SINR(Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio) of the received signal and a changed value of the SINR which is a difference between the SINR of the received signal in a previous frame and that in a current frame(305). Then, the base station calculates a competition matrix value by using the power control value and the changed value of the SINR(307). The base station compares the competition matrix value with a threshold(309). If the competition matrix value is less than the threshold, the base station performs scheduling according to a power competition avoidance scheme because the mobile station is in a power competition state(311). If the competition matrix value is more than the threshold, the base station performs scheduling according to a conventional scheme because the mobile station is not in a power competition state(313).
