An automatic gain control method for eliminating interference between filter bands and a graphic equalizer using the same are provided to minimize the inter-filter band interference in the graphic equalizer by suppressing interference between the filter bands, which automatically adjust input gains to the respective filters. A hardware or software interface(301) receives a gain of a filter. An ADC(Analog Digital Converter)(303) converts an input analog audio signal(307) to a digital signal. A memory(306) obtains a function for a filter gain by using a center frequency, a Q value, and a test frequency of a predefined filter, generates a matrix for obtaining a response at the test frequency for respective filter gains from the function, and obtains a conversion matrix for calculating gains on a desired frequency response by using an SVD(Singular Value Decomposition) scheme. A digital signal processor(304) determines the adjusted gains for the respective filters from the conversion matrix, suppresses an inter-filter band interference from the digital signal from the ADC, and automatically adjusts a gain of the digital signal. A DAC(305) converts the digital output from the DAC(Digital to Analog Converter) to an analog signal. |
