<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a plasma display panel that does not lower image display quality even when a sustain period is shortened. <P>SOLUTION: One-field subfields includes a plurality of subfields each having an initialization period, a write period, and a sustain period. In the sustain period, a sustain discharge is generated using a discharge cell having generated a write discharge by applying a sustain pulse to a display electrode pair alternately; and after a voltage for generating a final sustain discharge is applied to one of the display electrodes of the display electrode pair, a voltage for reducing the potential difference between the electrodes of the display electrode pair is applied to the other display electrode at a predetermined time interval. A subfield differing in repetition period of the sustain pulse is included in the one-field period, where the predetermined time interval of a subfield shorter than a period threshold where the repetition period of the sustain pulse is predetermined is set longer than the predetermined time interval of a subfield where the repetition period of the sustain pulse is longer than the period threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
