PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage device employing magnetic domain wall movement, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The information storage device includes: a magnetic layer formed on a substrate, the magnetic layer having many magnetic domains; and a means for applying energy to the magnetic layer for moving magnetic domain walls, wherein the magnetic layer is formed in parallel with the substrate. Many trenches perpendicular to the substrate are formed on the magnetic layer, and portions of a lower surface of the magnetic layer at positions corresponding to the trenches protrude downward from the lower surface of the magnetic layer.
