PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain positioning drive force exerted to sheets stacked in a tray within a fixed range. SOLUTION: A finisher compiling structure comprises a variable speed drive shaft 6, a frictional drive element 4 mounted to the drive shaft 6 at a distance from reception sheets 3 in a compiler tray 2, the compiler tray adapted to house a stack of the reception sheets, a drive shaft speed controller, and a drive shaft rotational home position sensor 17. The finisher is located in the marking system positioned after the reception sheets 3 have been marked, the force on the drive element 4 is dependent on at least height of the drive element 4 from the sheets 3, and the controller and the sensor 17 sense the shaft speed and the drive element 4 height and monitor and control the height of the stack from the shaft 6 so that the substantially constant drive force is exerted by the drive element 4 upon the stack of the reception sheets 3.
