A TURNING TOOL AS WELL AS A TURNING INSERT

A turning tool and a turning insert are provided to stably fix the turning insert at a desired position of the turning tool under variable stress. A turning tool includes a basic body(1), a fastening element(3) for fixing the turning tool and a turning insert(2) for cutting a thread. An insert seat(4) is formed in the basic body which is open at a lateral side(6) and a front surface(5) of a front head(7). A thin shank(8) having a polygonal shape is formed at a rear portion of the front head. The insert seat is defined by two lateral sides(10,11) and a bottom surface(9). One of the lateral sides supports the turning insert. An internal space(12) is defined by the two lateral sides. The bottom surface is formed with a hole(13) having a female screw.
