PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN AND OXYGEN USING WASTE HEAT OF FLUE GAS OF ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE, AND APPARATUS FOR THE PROCESS

A process and an apparatus for the production of hydrogen and oxygen using waste heat of flue gas of an electric arc furnace are provided to produce oxygen and hydrogen by using the waste heat of the flue gas, obtain an energy reduction effect by directly using the produced oxygen and hydrogen in the electric arc furnace, and reduce greenhouse gas by using the produced hydrogen in the reduction of carbon dioxide produced in the electric arc furnace. An apparatus for the production of hydrogen and oxygen using waste heat of flue gas of an electric arc furnace comprises: a buffer tank(1) of the electric arc furnace; a high temperature heat exchanger(3) installed on an elbow for transferring flue gas from the electric arc furnace or an upper part of the buffer tank to the buffer tank; a sulfuric acid decomposing tank(4) for decomposing sulfuric acid into oxygen, sulfur dioxide, and water; a sulfuric acid vaporizing tank(24) for vaporizing sulfuric acid in a liquid state; a transfer pump(28) for transferring sulfuric acid gas to the sulfuric acid decomposing tank; a hydrogen separating tank(10) for pyrolyzing hydrogen iodide to produce hydrogen and iodine; an iodine transfer pump(12) for transferring the iodine to the Bunsen reactor; a Bunsen reactor(6) for reacting sulfur dioxide, iodine, and water to produce sulfuric acid and hydrogen iodide; a liquid separator(9) for separating the produced sulfuric acid and hydrogen iodide; a sulfuric acid transfer pump(14) for sending the produced sulfuric acid to the sulfuric acid vaporizing tank; a hydrogen iodide transfer pump(11) for sending the produced hydrogen iodide to the hydrogen separating tank; a heat exchanger(16) installed in the sulfuric acid decomposing tank; a heat exchanger installed in the sulfuric acid vaporizing tank; a heat exchanger(17) installed in the hydrogen separating tank; a heat exchanger(18) installed in the Bunsen reactor; a cooling water storage tank(8) for supplying cooling water; a thermal fluid adjuster(19) installed on a thermal fluid transfer pipe; a cooler(27) for transferring a thermal fluid to the sulfuric acid vaporizing tank; a cooler(20) installed on a pipe for transferring the thermal fluid to the hydrogen separating tank; a cooler(21) installed on a pipe for transferring the thermal fluid to the Bunsen reactor; a high-temperature thermal fluid circulating pump(23); a cooling tank(15) for cooling and exhausting waste gas; and a sprinkler(22) installed in the cooling tank. Further, the apparatus additionally contains an oxygen store tank(5) for storing oxygen from the sulfuric acid decomposing tank and a hydrogen store tank(13) for storing hydrogen from the hydrogen separating tank.
