PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network connection device using a firmware suitable for a use environment, and reducing a burden on a user. SOLUTION: An operation condition recording means 142 records an operation state log including an error rate for each version of the firmware, in a device operation log storage area 132. An optimum version selecting means 121 selects a specified version in stead of the version of the current firmware, based on the operation state log, when the version of the current firmware in operation is determined to be updated. A firmware setting means 122 downloads a firmware of the version selected by the optimum version selecting means 121, from a firmware storage server 400, to be set as a new firmware.
