A chitosan composition comprising at least one type of chitosan having a degree of acetylation in the range of from about 30% to about 60%, and at le ast one type of chitosan having a degree of deacetylation of at least about 70%, wherein the composition undergoes pH- and temperature-dependant gelatio n to form a hydrogel; and methods of preparation and uses thereof.
