PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplitude measuring method and an optical disk player, capable of exactly measuring the amplitude of an error signal without being affected by a thin scratch, etc., on the surface of the optical disk to be played back. SOLUTION: As for the optical disk player, the amplitude measuring method of error signal which measures the amplitude of the error signal output from an optical pickup through a filter section for making to pass a signal having a specific frequency or lower, includes: a first step to lower the specific frequency of the filter section just before measuring the amplitude of the error signal; a second step to measure the amplitude of the error signal; and a third step to restore the specific frequency of the filter section just after measuring the error signal.
