There is a method of producing a sign for the visually impaired, said method including the steps of :- - procuring a substrate for said sign, and - subjecting said substrate to an application process whereby one or more layers of a pigment, solvent based or ultra violet based ink are built-up on said substrate to form at least one raised information conveying shape or pattern, and - applying a continuous substantially transparent protective coating over the substrate and said at least one raised information conveying shape or pattern.
