<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation device, by which a user easily knows an operation procedure by touching each hard key for quick and accurate operation. <P>SOLUTION: The operation device 2 disposed on a panel surface 20 comprises a plurality of operation buttons for setting operations or functions of the device. The operation buttons are assigned to a plurality of operation groups according to the operation procedure of the device, and a plurality of stepped areas 21-26 differed in height is formed along a predetermined direction on the panel surface 20.
