PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the separability from an image carrier of a recording medium ejected from a transfer nip apart without any disturbance in an unfixed toner image. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus A includes: a transfer member holder 31 covering a transfer member 3 in an area downstream of the nip part N between the image carrier 2 and a transfer member 3 firmly pressed against this; an outer shell member 33 covering the holder 31 and having a recording medium guide part 33g; and an intake device 300 connected to the back of the outer shell member 33. The outer shell member 33 has a ventilation port H by which a space 30 between the holder 31 and outer shell member 33 communicates with the intake device 300. The guide part 33g has an intake port h between the guide part 33g and the image carrier side end of the holder 31. Air is drawn from the intake port h by the intake device 300 and a drawing force toward the holder 31 is applied to the recording medium 50 ejected from the nip area N. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
