PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner in which vibration for removing dust is generated sufficiently in the whole area of a filter as far as possible by simple operation. SOLUTION: By repeating vertical motion of a handle 9, a rotary body 57 reciprocally repeats turning to make a vibration generating projection 61 repeatedly collide with chevron peak parts of pleats of a filter 14. Putting it in other words, the vibration generating projections 61 scratch the surface of the filter 14 so as to draw an arc. By the scratching motion, vibration is generated in a wide range of the filter 14 and dust attached on the surface on the upstream side in a suction direction of the filter 14 is separated from the filter 14 and dropped down.
