A heating cooker having a box-like cooking chamber (10) for receiving an object (38) to be cooked, and a hot air generator (18) having an electric heater heat source (12) and a blower (15). Hot air produced by the hot air generator (18) is caused to impinge on the object (38) as a high-speed jet flow from nozzle holes (37) formed in a ceiling plate (33) of the cooking chamber (10) . The hot air after the impingement is sucked by the blower (15) from hot-air suction openings (42, 43) formed in left and right sidewall lower sections of the cooking chamber (10) and is returned for recirculation to the hot-air generator (18).
