<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy requirement of an operator in improving fuel economy. <P>SOLUTION: A hybrid automobile 20 selects an ordinary traveling mode satisfying requirement regarding comfortableness of the operator and one of a quietness maintaining eco-mode for maintaining quietness of the vehicle, a driving force maintaining eco-mode for maintaining required torque output to a ring gear shaft 32a, an air conditioning performance maintaining eco-modefor maintaining air conditioning performance of a cabin 21, a most fuel economy priority mode not maintaining requirement regarding comfortableness of the operator as the eco-mode giving priority to fuel economy compared to the ordinary traveling mode by an eco-mode switch 89 operated by the operator, sets requirement torque based on the selected mode, and controls an engine 22 and motors MG1 and MG2 so that driving force based on the set requirement torque is output to the ring gear shaft 32a.
