PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical silica-based mesoporous body which can exhibit high selectivity to substrates or substances to be adsorbed and exhibit sufficiently high catalytic performance or adsorption performance when it is used as a catalyst or an adsorbent. SOLUTION: The spherical silica-based mesoporous body has an average particle diameter of 0.01-3μm and radial pores having central pore diameters of 1-10 nm, and in the spherical silica-based mesoporous body, a first organic group having at least one functional group selected from the group comprising sulfonic acid group, carboxylic acid group, and amino group and at least one second organic group selected from the group comprising aliphatic compound-based organic groups and cyclic compound-based organic groups are introduced.
