A bar coater, and a method for coating a coating solution by using the bar coater are provided to coat a coating solution ton a web to form a thin film without the generation of flowing strip. A bar coater(10) comprises a support which travels continuously; and a rotating cylindrical bar(20) supported on a bar accommodation member(22), wherein the material of the bar supporting surface of the bar accommodation member has an expansion of the surface of 1-50 micrometers by the dipping of a coating solution and has a hardness lower than the hardness of the bar material. Preferably the material of the bar supporting surface is PEEK(polyether ether ketone) resin or polychlorotrifluoroethylene. |
