<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of failures in an image forming apparatus caused by the combination of software. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of software names for specifying the combination of software resulting in failures since software is put in a state under execution across a common period is stored as failure information in a failure prevention device 200. The control part of the failure prevention device 200 periodically acquires the software names of the preliminarily registered software stored in an image forming apparatus 100, and searches the combination of the software to be acquired by the image forming apparatus 100.
