An apparatus and a method for managing recorded materials of an image display device are provided to display recordings which are not used for watching for a long time according to presence of the recordings when a user turns on power of the image display device in order to reduce the number of the recordings which are to be stored. A broadcasting signal is stored in a storage according to a recording signal. When recording of the broadcasting signal is finished, the recording-finished recordings are registered in a new recording(S204). It is checked whether new recordings exist and the new recordings are displayed(S205). The recording-finished recordings are marked with an I mark bit(S208). It is judged whether the new recordings exist based on the mark bit(S206). When play command is inputted on the displayed recording list, a mark bit is changed into "0", and then the mark list is removed(S207). |
