PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor that can prevent the occurrence of such a problem that when a color image is output as a monochrome image, the output monochrome image becomes difficult to recognize. SOLUTION: Fig. 3(a) shows a display screen 41 before input of the instruction to change background color. In the Fig. 3(a), the background color of areas 51, 52 and 53 in a color image are white, pale blue and blue, respectively. In areas 51 and 52 of a monochrome image, on the other hand, the density of a background image is low, so that a letter string "abcde" is recognizable, however in an area 53, the density of the background image is high, so that the letter string "abcde" is unrecognizable. Hence, a user moves a cursor 54 to a position in the area 53. In this state, the user inputs an instruction to change the background color, for instance, to white. Fig. 3(b) shows a state in which the background color of the area 53 is changed to white in monochrome image. This change makes recognizable the letter string in the area 53.
