A polyvinylalcohol-based polymer film is provided to be useful as a raw material of wide polarization film which has fewer stains, does not form wrinkles easily during stretching, and enables enlargement of a liquid crystal display screen. A polyvinylalcohol-based polymer film at least 2 m in width has a difference in retardation between two points distanced by 1 cm in a TD direction of the film of 5 nm or smaller, and contains 0.01-1 parts by weight of an anionic or nonionic surfactant based on 100 parts by weight of polyvinylalcohol. The polymer film is obtained by forming a film from a polyvinylalcohol-based polymer solution, and drying both sides of the film evenly. A polarizing film is obtained by dyeing the polymer film, and stretching the dyed film uniaxially.
