A mobile communication system and a random access communication method therein are provided to enhance the utilization of a radio channel for random access communication. If random access data with a certain length or more to transmit still remain, a mobile station transmits a previously negotiated transmission continuation request signal to a base station while transmitting the random access data(413). Receiving the transmission continuation request signal, the base station determines whether to accept the request from the mobile station according to the present communication conditions(415). In case the request from the mobile station is acceptable, the base station transmits a transmission continuation grant signal to the mobile station(416). Based on the transmission continuation grant signal, the mobile station continuously transmits the random access data which are being transmitted at present(418). After completing the transmission of the random access data, the mobile station confirms whether random access data to transmit still remain. If so, the mobile station transmits the transmission continuation request signal to the base station again.
