A high availability system and a method for providing a high availability service are provided to construct the high availability system through hardware, thereby enabling a server of a standby state to substitute functions immediately when problems occur in a server of an active state. A first server(230) is in an active state. A second server(240) of a standby state is connected to the first server. Switches(210,220) are respectively connected to the first and second servers. A relay controller(250) is connected with the first and second servers to determine a state of each server. A relay(260) is controlled by the relay controller so as to be connected with the switch connected to the first server.
