PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transporting a wood chip and a non-wood chip for papermaking having a low volume weight and low bulk specific gravity, which improves the transportation efficiency and the pulp-production efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for transporting a wood chip and/or a non-wood chip for papermaking includes the chipping of a papermaking wood and/or non-wood after or without compression treatment, the compression treatment of the obtained chips to form pressed chips having a volume corresponding to 30-90% of the volume of non-pressed chips of a state produced from the papermaking wood and/or non-wood without applying compression treatment, and a chip volume recovery of≥90% based on the chip before compression treatment measured by immersing the pressed chips in hot water at 80°C for 10 min, and the transportation of the compressed chips.
