VARIANT ACETOLACTIC ACID SYNTHASE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING BRANCHED CHAIN L-AMINO ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new bacterial variant acetolactic acid synthase for developing a branched chain L-amino acid-producing strain improved with the productivity of the branched chain L-amino acid, and also a method for producing the branched chain L-amino acid by using the strain.

SOLUTION: This bacterial variant acetolactic acid synthase (AHAS I) resists a feedback inhibition by L-valine. The method for producing the branched chain L-amino acid by using the bacteria of Enterobacteriaceae is provided with that the L-amino acid productivity of the bacteria is reinforced by using the acetolactic acid synthase (AHAS I) having resistance to the feedback inhibition by the L-valine. The acetolactic acid synthase contains a variant small subunit encoded by a variant ilvN gene.
