<p>A walk-substituting cart 1 such as a motorized wheelchair is equipped with a detecting device 2, such as a mercury switch (figs.4 and 5), tilt switch, gyroscope (figs 8 and 9) or a rolling ball switch (figs 6 and 7), which can detect the existence and measure the inclination of a downward slope that the cart is moving on; when the cart is moving down a slope, the detecting device is capable of sending a signal to a power source 3 of the cart causing the power source to automatically reduce thus slowing down the speed of the cart; Preferably the speed reduction correlates to the degree of inclination detected and on determining severe inclination the cart's braking system is additionally automatically engaged.</p> |
