A SHIFT REGISTER

A shift register is provided to prevent the deterioration of pull-down switching elements by periodically discharging nodes connected to the pull-down switching elements. A shift register includes plural stages(ST1-ST6) cascaded with one another. Each of the stages includes a pull-up switching element, a pull-down element, a node controller(205), and a discharge unit(400). The pull-up switching element outputs scan pulses through an output terminal according to the logical state of a first node. The pull-down element outputs a discharge voltage through the output terminal according to the logical state of a second node. The node controller controls the logical state of the first node according to the logical state of a forward stage. The discharge unit discharges the output terminal using discharge voltage in response to scan pulses from a forward stage.
