Silk protein-mimicking peptides are provided to show improved stability and identical physiological activity to natural silk protein, improve in vivo delivery and bioavailability by reducing molecular weight, and protect nerve cells and enhance brain functions, so that they are useful for preventing or treating cranial neuropathies. A silk protein-mimicking peptide is represented by the formula(1): Gly-X_aal-Gly-X_aa2 and has any one of the amino acid sequences of SEQ ID NO:1 to SEQ ID NO:4, wherein the X_aa1 is Ala, Val, Ser, Tyr, Asp, Glu, Thr, Met, Ile, Leu, Phe, His, Lys or Arg; X_aa2 is Ala, Tyr, Val, Ser, Asp, Glu, Thr, Met, Ile, Leu, Phe, His, Lys or Arg, or Ala, Tyr, Val, Ser, Asp, Glu, Thr, Met, Ile, Leu, Phe, His, Lys or Arg which is further linked to Gly-X_aa3; and X_aa3 is Tyr, Val, Ala, Ser, Asp, Glu, Thr, Met, Ile, Leu, Phe, His, Lys or Arg. A pharmaceutical or food composition for preventing or treating cranial neuropathies including dementia, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis contains the silk protein-mimicking peptide.
