<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a health food material containing the extract of a Leguminosae plant such as Mucuna. hassjoo Sieb. or the like and having anticancer or cancer-preventing effect expressing immunofunction-enhancing activity and apoptosis-inducing function to cancer cells. <P>SOLUTION: The extract is produced from a group of Leguminosae plants consisting of Mucuna. hassjoo Sieb. , Mucuna. deeringigina Merr. , Mucuna. ana, Mucuna. Hari Devi, Phaseolus coccineus L. , Phaseolus coccineus L. and Vigna angularis Ohwi et Ohashi by a method comprising following processes (i)-(iv). The processes are (i) to crush the Leguminosae plant by a mixer, (ii) if needed, to defat the crushed product with ethanol, (iii) to heat extract the defatted and crushed Leguminosae plant with 0.1 M concentration NaOH aqueous solution and (iv) to adjust the heat extracted product to pH7.0 by neutralization after the heat extraction and obtain the final extract by centrifuging the solution to remove residual particulate materials, subsequently filtering and sterilizing the solution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
