PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which allows easy wiring to a motor for driving a dust removing apparatus and can be made compact by effectively utilizing a space inside a case. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner C comprises: a dust collecting chamber 8 formed inside the case 1, where a dust collecting bag is arranged; a winding reel 4 for a power cord arranged in a reel chamber 9b formed inside the case 1 adjacently to the dust collecting chamber 8; the dust removing apparatus arranged in the dust collecting chamber 8 and driven so as to remove dust stuck to the inner surface of the dust collecting bag; and the motor 5 for driving the dust removing apparatus. The motor 5 is provided inside the reel chamber 9b and arranged on the outside of a winding space S for the power cord, and the rotary shaft A2 of the motor 5 is arranged so as to be close to the upper part or the lower part on the side of the dust collecting chamber 8 than the rotary shaft A1 of the winding reel 4.
