PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus in which the shift of scanning position in a subscanning direction is corrected so as to reduce the resist shift due to the difference in the rotational phase difference between polygon mirrors of an optical scanner, and a high quality image is formed without color shift and color change, and to obtain an optical scanner used for the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is provided with a plurality of optical scanning means having different faces to be scanned, each of the plurality of optical scanning means has: a light source which is modulated and driven on the basis of an image signal; an optical deflector provided with a deflection and reflection face which deflects a luminous flux from a light source; and a focusing optical system which condenses the luminous flux deflected with the optical deflector and focuses it on the face to be scanned as a beam spot, wherein each of the plurality of optical scanning means has: a light beam scanning position detection means which detects the scanning position of the light beam on the face to be scanned; and a light beam scanning position dislocation means which moves the scanning position of the light beam.
