PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing methylchlorosilane directly using chloromethane in which the content of oxygen is reduced. SOLUTION: The method for synthesizing methylchlorosilane directly comprises reducing the content of oxygen in chloromethane to be used by mixing (a) chloromethane containing oxygen and (b) chloromethane containing a boron compound which exists in the shape of gas, and making the chloromethane react with a contact material containing silicon and a copper catalyst.
