Benzoxazocine compounds of the general formula (1), wherein one of W, X, Y and Z is N or CR4 and the others are each CH; and R1, R2, R3 and R4 are specified substituents as defined in the specification. These compounds inhibit monoamine reuptake, and are useful in the treatment of pain, emesis depression, post traumatic stress disorders, attention deficit disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, pre-menstrual syndrome, substance abuse and sexual dysfunction.
