PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which prevents rainbow irregularities from appearing in a printing medium. SOLUTION: The printer which carries out printing by scanning a carriage equipped with a print head in a main scanning direction includes a carriage motor 4 which drives the carriage, a controlling means 92 which controls driving of the carriage motor 4, and a storing means 41 which stores speed data related to a scanning speed of the carriage. The controlling means 92 controls driving of the carriage motor 4 to scan the carriage by the scanning speed lower than a speed whereby a machine body generates resonant vibration.
