PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting coil that can efficiently suppress quenching. SOLUTION: The superconducting coil includes a cylindrical shaft 11, a winding frame 10 that includes the cylindrical shaft 11 and a pair of flanges 12 extending to the radial direction from both ends in the axial direction of the shaft 11, a cylindrical intermediate member 20 arranged in a manner to cover the outer circumference of the shaft 11, and a superconducting wire layer 30 that is formed by spirally wiring the superconducting wire around the outer circumference of the intermediate member 20 while it is being pinched the paired flanges 12. The shaft 11 of the winding frame 10 has a larger linear expansion coefficient in the axial direction than that in the axial direction of the superconducting wire layer 30, as well as a high tensile strength in the axial direction than tensile stress in the axial direction of that is given from the superconducting wire layer 30 by means of the paired flanges 12 during cooling, and the intermediate member 20 has a smaller linear expansion coefficient in the circumferential direction than that in the circumferential direction of the superconducting wire layer 30.
