PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and inexpensive angle-of-light detection device capable of detecting an incident angle of incoming light with high precision, even when the intensity of the light is small. SOLUTION: A first and a second photodetector 4a, 4b are arranged side by side mutually with light shielding elements 3a, 3b between against the outside so that along with receiving remote control signals as rays of incident light and performing their photoelectric conversions, the quantities of the received rays of light differ mutually according to the incident angleθof the incident rays of light. The outputs of the first and second photodetectors 4a, 4b are amplified with amplifiers 21, 22 respectively to acquire a first and a second signal. A divider 61 finds the ratio between the first signal and the second signal. When an angular resolution which this angle-of-light detection device 2 should have is represented by±Δθtarget, a constant corresponding to the maximum detection angleθmax is represented by a, and moreover the ratio between a bias current to be applied to the input section of the divider 61 and the sum of currents by the first and second signals is represented by r, the amplification degrees of the amplifiers 21, 22 satisfy a relation of r<aΔθtarget.
