PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a recording mark more surely obtaining a preferable reproduced signal quality while suppressing the number of recording parameters to be used.

SOLUTION: The recording parameter setting device sets recording parameters of a pulse string for forming a recording mark in an information recording medium according to recording information. The recording parameters include the recording parameter group of the head of the pulse string where a predetermined recording mark length to a maximum recording mark length are classified in the same group, and the falling position of a rear end pulse where a recording mark length longer than the predetermined recording mark length to the maximum recording mark length are classified in the same group. The recording parameters further include a range of the rear end pulse.
