PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to obtain good image quality while performing AF control in the midst of taking a moving picture. SOLUTION: The camera is provided with: an optical path switching means (115) selectively switching the optical path of subject light through a photographic lens (104) to an imaging device (111) and a focus detection means (114) performing the focus detection of the photographic lens (104); and a control part (105) controlling the imaging device (111) to take an image by the subject light as a moving picture and controlling the optical path switching means (115) to intermittently switch the optical path to the focus detection means (114) in the midst of taking the moving picture.
