An endoscope system having an elongate insertion section; an imaging section having an object optical system with the optical axis tilted relative to the direction of the longitudinal axis of the insertion section, capturing an image of an object present in the field of view of the object optical system, and capable of rotating about the longitudinal axis of the insertion section; a rotational angle detection section for detecting the angle of rotation of the imaging section; an imaging control section for controlling the imaging section based on the angle of rotation detected by the rotational angle detector, thereby causing the imaging section to capture images of multiple objects as it rotates one time; and a signal processing section for performing signal processing for displaying the images of the multiple objects on a single display section.
