A drifting (WTRU) wireless transmit/receive unit has an associated (D-RNC) drift radio network controller (38) and an associated (S-RNC) servicing radio network controller (40). The D-RNC (38) sends a request message to the S-RNC (40) requesting measurements of the drifting WTRU. The S-RNC (40) receives the request message and sends an information message with the requested measurements to the D-RNC (38). The D-RNC (38) receives the information message. ® KIPO & WIPO 2008
