PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp with high safety with the fall of an outer tube bulb surely restrained until the end of a life irrespective of a mounting posture of the lamp. SOLUTION: The lamp 10 houses an arc tube 1 supported by inner stem leads 12, 13. The outer tube bulb 14 is constituted of a part 14a housing the arc tube 1, a neck 14b reduced in diameter from the part 14a, and a cap fitting-in part 14c with a screw groove 16 formed. In the lamp 10, the inner stem lead 12 in the part 14a of the outer tube bulb 14 is provided with only one fall stopper 20 with an arm 22, and the arm 22 is constituted in a manner of free rotation so that the other end draws an arc between a first position to a second position with one end as a fulcrum F. At the second position, the arm 22 forms an angle of 70[°] or larger and 110[°] or smaller to a tube axis Ax<SB>10</SB>of the outer tube bulb 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
