PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of changing the resolution of image data with less computational complexity in accordance with a distance from a reference point arbitrarily set within a screen. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 100 which changes the resolution of image data in accordance with the distance from the reference point arbitrarily set within the screen of the image data comprises: a smoothing processing unit 104 which selects pixels to be operated which are arrayed to increase a pixel interval as being away from the reference point, from the image data and smoothes the selected pixels to be operated using pixel values of the pixels to be operated and pixel values of pixels positioned around the pixels to be operated; and an interpolation processing unit 105 which interpolates a pixel value of a pixel that is not selected as a pixel to be operated, and pixel values of the smoothed pixels to be operated which are positioned around the non-selected pixel.
