PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CoW-based target material for a hard disk drive, having a relative density of 100% and also having excellent workability, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: The CoW-based target material is provided in which an average particle diameter of Co powder being the raw material is controlled to 50 to 500μm and an average particle diameter of W powder is controlled to 10 to 200μm.
