<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating a leaf vegetable, a farm product, concretely spinach, having a low potassium content, comprising adjusting the amount of fertilized potassium at a cultivation step, by which the potassium content of the edible portions of the leaf vegetable can be reduced without affecting the growth of the edible portions of the leaf vegetable. <P>SOLUTION: The method for cultivating spinach by hydroponics comprises cultivating the spinach under the adjustment of the potassium content of a cultivation medium to obtain the leaf vegetable having a small potassium content. For the first 2 to 3 weeks in 5 cultivation weeks, KNO<SB>3</SB>is added without reducing the content of potassium in a water culture solution. Subsequently, HNO<SB>3</SB>or NaNO<SB>3</SB>is added instead of the KNO<SB>3</SB>in the same concentration, and the pH of the water culture solution is adjusted to 6.0 to 6.5 with NaOH. Thereby, the potassium content of edible portions is reduced to 1/3 to 1/4 based on conventional contents, while maintaining the growth of the edible portions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
