<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of providing a user with improved convenience in toner-end detection, and also, capable of reducing an error in toner consumption resulting from background staining, consequently, accurately predicting a remaining toner amount. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 800 includes: an image carrier 100; an electrostatic latent image forming means 5; a developing means 60; and a controller 500 having a toner-end judging mechanism. The controller 500 includes: a pixel-number counter 500-p for counting the number A of pixels in the electrostatic latent image written on the image carrier 100; and a background staining toner correcting means 500-q for correcting the background staining correction amounts k1 and k2 equivalent to the toner amount applied to the background staining part on the image carrier based on the number A of pixels obtained by the pixel-number counter 500-p. The background staining toner correcting means 500-q accurately and selectively uses the background staining correction amount k1 or k2 in accordance with an image forming condition in each image forming operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
