PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element without light absorption loss, with stable oscillation characteristics and with low manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The light emitting element comprises a semiconductor light amplifier (SOA) 4 without a phase control region, and a ring-resonator wavelength variable filter 5. The ring-resonator wavelength variable filter 5 comprises two or more ring resonators 6 whose optical path lengths are slightly different, heater electrodes 7 which control temperature of the resonators, and the likes. Further, on a connection waveguide 8 of the ring-resonator wavelength variable filter 5, there is newly provided a piezoelectric element 1 which is fixed by using a presser foot jig 3. The piezoelectric element 1 applies stress to the connection waveguide 8. According to the applied stress, the refractive index and the physical length of the connection waveguide 8 are varied.
