A wire electric discharge machine having an automatic wiring device and a wiring method thereof are provided to perform automatic wiring even the wire is cut during machining process or the wire is intentionally disconnected due to movement of the wire to another start point. A wire electric discharge machine for electrical discharge machining of a workpiece between an upper guide(150) and a lower guide(155) by a wire(10) which is fed from a feed reel(300), comprises a pair of upper rollers(114), a lower roller(135), a cutter(130), a power supply for heating(100), a plurality of sensors(120,145,165), a controller(180), and a wire controller(200). The upper rollers feed the wire to the upper guide. The lower roller, disposed adjacent the upper guide, guides the wire feeding. The cutter is provided between the upper and lower rollers to cut the wire. The power supply for heating applies an electric current to the wire between the upper and lower rollers for heating. The sensors mounted adjacent the upper and lower rollers and the lower guide, sense the passing of the wire. The controller stretches the wire between the upper and lower rollers based on detection signals from the sensors and communicates the power supply for heating. The wire controller discharges the wire cut by the cutter.
